Professorial Nomination at the Faculty of Biology

On 7 January 2026, at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw, Prof. Adam M. Tylicki, received the professorial nomination from the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki.

Prof. Adam M. Tylicki is a biochemist and cell biologist who heads the Cytobiochemistry Laboratory in the Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology at our Faculty. His research interests include, among others, antivitamin derivatives of vitamin B1 (thiamine) and their potential practical applications in the treatment of fungal infections and in inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, as well as the opportunism of yeasts and their drug resistance.

In 2021, the research team led by Prof. Tylicki, comprising researchers from our Faculty and the Medical University of Białystok, was also granted a patent for an invention entitled “A mixture of oxythiamine and ketoconazole and a pharmaceutical composition.”
