Setyo Budi Kurniawan from Brawijaya University (UB), Malang, Indonesia will tell us about Biology in the Perspective of an Engineer. The lecture will take place in Faculty of Biology on Tuesday, May 16th at 10.30 PM in room 2060.
The science of biology covers many aspects, including animal, plant, and also microscopic organisms. In the other hand, engineering works with the application obtained from the basic sciences. Development of applied science of biotechnology include the involvement of biology. Biotechnology is unseparated discussion from the basic science of biology. Collaboration between engineers and biologist can be carried out in terms of ecological modelling, compositional and structural analyses of materials and organisms, and foundational analysis before engineering application such as toxicity test and bioindicator. Strengthening the basic science in the biotechnology application may open further collaboration between engineers and biologist, which may then enrich both perspectives.
